Blog, Tweet and Make Money on Vacation Post 6

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

This is the sixth and final post in the series I started last week called Blog, Tweet and Make Money on Vacation. If all has gone well, we are enjoying our last day in the Florida sun at the end of a fun-filled, yet relaxing week of vacation. We’ve spent a few beautiful days at the beach here in Cocoa Beach Florida relaxing in the sand and swimming in the ocean. We had great days at Sea World’s Discovery Cove and Busch Gardens, spent the rest of the time visiting with family and we even managed to watch some of the NHL Playoffs on satellite TV, which us Canadians just can’t go without at this time of year.

I gotta tell ya, it sure beats the typical week.

While we’re packing today and getting ready to go to the airport for our flight home, this blog post has been automatically published here. In fact, this post has also been tweeted to 2 of my 4 twitter profiles, along with several other updates to all 4 of those twitter profiles.

Remember, this is all being done on auto-pilot. I don’t have a laptop, I didn’t bring a cell phone and I do not have Internet access where I am staying while in Florida this week. This brings me back once again to the point of this series, which is very straight forward and simple.

While I was out enjoying my vacation with the family this week, the little bit of time I spent last week putting together this series of blog posts, scheduling them with WordPress and scheduling tweets to my Twitter profiles with HootSuite is taking care of my business, driving traffic to my blogs/websites and hopefully making me some money.

Don’t forget, you can check out the all the updates that were tweeted to my Twitter profiles this week yourself by visiting @SteveWestfall, @GetPaidBeSocial, @Where2Look and @TrendyJewelry. Please feel free to follow any of the profiles you like.

Oh yeah, if you’ve enjoyed this series please feel free to post your comments or discuss the techniques being presented on any of the posts. We can all learn from the input of others. I hope that those of you that followed the series have learned something or at least got some ideas about how you can put these techniques to work for yourself or your business.

That’s the end of this series, but there will be many more posts here in the future filled with money making tips and techniques. Following the Twitter profiles listed above is a great way to get updates. Feel free to come back as often as you like.

Easy To Use Tool Makes A Tweeters Life Easier

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

I haven’t been using Twitter for very long, but I have quickly learned what a great resource it provides to social networkers like me. Upon joining, I quickly set-up 4 Twitter profiles shortly after I started tweeting (one personal and one for each of my websites). I use them daily to promote myself, my websites, affiliate products etc., as well as for general updates about what I’m doing.

With Twitter, I can accomplish all of this in simple posts of 140 characters at a time. In fact, most of you reading this post probably followed a link from Twitter or another social network (where I post Twitter updates) to get here. Now, you might be thinking to yourself that keeping up 4 twitter profiles seems like an awful lot of work for one person. If so, you’re right! It was. When I first joined, I was logging in and out of each profile in order to post tweets or re-tweets more than I was actually tweeting! Then, I was logging in and out of different social networks to re-post those Tweets.

It was crazy! That’s when I found a bright shining beacon on the horizon. It appeared out of nowhere when I was searching for another Twitter tool. I decided to check it out, and I am so glad that I did!

It’s called HootSuite. HootSuite is the ultimate Twitter toolbox. With HootSuite, you can manage multiple Twitter profiles, pre-schedule tweets, and measure your success. HootSuite lets you manage your entire Twitter experience from one easy-to-use interface. Creating an account is easy. Enter your Twitter username and password, and add a profile for each Twitter account you wish to manage. Got more than one tweeter per profile? Add multiple editors.

Then get going! Post live or pre-schedule tweets. Check stats and analytics right from the dashboard. Search Twitter for keyword information. Reply @ and Direct Message the folks in your conversation. Do all this and more from one fantastic interface. They even offer an RSS feed updater that posted a tweet about this blog post for me as soon as I published it! Their services are also integrated with Google Adsense and with Ping.fm, so you can monetize your tweets, then post them to multiple social network profiles.

HootSuite also offers a fantastic BookMarklet that makes it super easy to create a tweet about any page on the web, while you’re viewing it and post it to the Twitter profile of your choosing.

Since joining Twitter and using HootSuite to maximize my efforts, traffic to my websites, blogs and affiliate promotion pages has gone through the roof. This is mainly due to combining the power of Twitter with ease of HootSuite. It allows me to consistently post quality information that my followers and friends on other social networks want to hear or read about. You see, passing along good quality information, is always better than just slapping up post after post of non-relevant links that no one will ever visit. Engage your readers/followers and they will become loyal readers/followers. Bombard them with useless link-spam and they will leave you for dead before you have a chance to post your next update.
